| Track Mounted Drilling Platform |
As part of the continuing demand for our Geotechnical Engineering services, SUMMIT acquired a tracked mounted drill rig in October of 2007. This rubber tracked rig will allow SUMMIT to provide timely and cost effective drilling solutions for our clients. By eliminating the need for drilling subcontractors, the turn around time for geotechnical projects will decrease drastically. |
Our track mounted rig couples all-terrain capabilities with the ability to operate in finished areas without damage or need for additional protection. Additionally, the rig offers low height clearance of 12 ½ feet allowing access to the interior of buildings for investigations. |
The powerful two-speed SIMCO operational platform will allow the rig to operate to depths of up to 100 feet, and the light weight unit can easily be transported by barge or crane to perform specific geotechnical investigations. more... |

Irwin Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Project
SUMMIT was retained by CDM
(www.cdm.com)
for Charlotte Mecklenburg Utilities (CMU) to evaluate the
subsurface conditions and make recommendations for the footing
designs for the upgrades to the Irwin Creek Waste Water Treatment
Plant (WWTP). The investigation included foundation recommendations
for a new 10 foot diameter aboveground sludge storage tank,
a 47,000 lb sludge conveyor and silo structure, and a new
powerhouse building. The areas where these new structures
are to be placed consisted of fill and alluvial soils and
special considerations were taken into account to minimize
